Vulpes Victoriana

BIG NEWS! You can now buy this shirt at Goodjoe.com :)

My entry for this week’s Shirt.Woot Derby, theme: The Letter V!

Description I’m just going to copy/paste from the Derby submission:
This design represents the 11 uncontested members of the genus Vulpes – there is a twelfth member of Vulpes, the Arctic Fox, but I chose to omit it since it’s also sometimes listed as a member of the genus Alopex.

They are, from left to right:
Cape fox (Vulpes chama), Pale fox (Vulpes pallida), Fennec fox (Vulpes zerda), Tibetan Sand fox (Vulpes ferrilata), Ruppell’s fox (Vulpes rueppelli), Blanford’s fox (Vulpes cana), Kit fox (Vulpes macrotis), Bengal or Indian fox (Vulpes bengalensis), Corsac fox (Vulpes corsac), Swift fox (Vulpes velox), and the little baby is the standard Red fox (Vulpes vulpes).

I’ve dressed them in a variety of Victorian-styled clothing, in keeping with the theme of V (and because Victorian stuff is kinda cool). A lot of time and research went into this, and I hope it shows :)

I’m really excited about this design, since I think it makes for a great design AND a great illustration on its own (it’s hard to find where the two overlap). If you can, please vote :)

Unrelated, today starts the massive undertaking of the “Make Something Cool Everyday” project! I’ll be adding some links, and possibly a separate page write-up, with info about the project and the people who are doing it. Let’s make 2010 full of Creativity and Awesome :)

I love this design.

I’d LOVE to see this win, I have the goal of being first sucker when it does.
