Chilibird!
A little gift for my boyfraaaaaaaand
this may be something about liking spicy foods and Jimmy Buffet, but it’s my understanding that this moniker was fairly randomly chosen…
Thank you to Mark for singing about Chili’s Baby Back Birds.

For work, apparently we’re running an editorial on Jay-Z’s expensive requests for amenities during the concert he’s scheduled to give here. My favorite is the request for “a 48-bottle case of Fiji Water – 24 cold, 24 room temperature”. Followed closely by “a jar of good quality peanut butter” and “a jar of good quality grape jelly”.
Probably the saddest part of graduating is that I will have to lose my newspaper job. Unless some other fine publication out there is looking to hire soon…
I painted the bird skeleton today.
The photo is a little overexposed so you can’t see the difference between the midtone and the highlight. I promise I cared enough to paint them differently.
and here’s what the two paintings look like together. I still have to paint the head on the figure, but otherwise they’re actually almost done (until my teacher says otherwise).
I left the floor in because you could see the paintings reflected in it, which I thought was cool…
Purpley arm is much purplier in real life. There’s also some cool magenta stuff going on in the background that also didn’t photograph well – the perils of liberal use of gloss medium.
This is a work in progress as part of my final painting project for school. It’s part of a diptych, where the other panel has the same sort of background, but the person is mirrored by a bird skeleton/wing. it’s gonna look pretty badass when it’s done.
