it’s becoming increasingly difficult to write anything of substance along with my sketches, mostly because a lot of the sketches I’m doing are more or less brainless, directionless doodles; I spend hours of each day now doing more directed drawing and sketching for classes, and though I share some of that here, I’d still like to show “me” drawings, or at least try to think and put effort in (as much effort as can be tossed into the free time I have, anyway).
lately some artbloggers I watch have done series of works; one ___ every day for __ days is a popular theme (an example is the 400 girls in 100 days blog). I think I’d like to pick a theme like that, nothing as ambitious as 100, but maybe something like 30 or 31 (pick a month and work with it), the idea being that forcing myself to draw a single subject will also 1. push me to think of something more creative to do with that subject, and 2. force me to be thinking about what I’m doing. my painting professor’s greatest lament is that too many art students don’t think.
in pursuit of this goal I am taking suggestions for subjects. themes may also be suggested, but subjects is better. have fun doing step one of thinking for me
