Morning Solstice

Upgraded Wordpress

I noticed this afternoon that someone had injected some porn links into my previous post that were visible when viewed from the RSS feed… :S so I took that as a sign that I needed to upgrade my wordpress installation.

It seems that everything has worked out fine, but please let me know if you notice anything suddenly not working. thanks :)

in other news, I’m working this weekend, and though I know I haven’t been great about posting every single day anyway, there will definitely not be anything posted tomorrow (Saturday the 23rd). Have a nice weekend :)

the same girl

Last night I tried to leave
Cried so much I could not believe
She was the same girl I fell in love with long ago

same girl

She went in the back to get high
I sat down on my couch and cried, yelling
“Oh, mama, please help me!”

(I forgot to resize it. oops. enjoy the marvellous full-size imagery!)

it’s becoming increasingly difficult to write anything of substance along with my sketches, mostly because a lot of the sketches I’m doing are more or less brainless, directionless doodles; I spend hours of each day now doing more directed drawing and sketching for classes, and though I share some of that here, I’d still like to show “me” drawings, or at least try to think and put effort in (as much effort as can be tossed into the free time I have, anyway).

lately some artbloggers I watch have done series of works; one ___ every day for __ days is a popular theme (an example is the 400 girls in 100 days blog). I think I’d like to pick a theme like that, nothing as ambitious as 100, but maybe something like 30 or 31 (pick a month and work with it), the idea being that forcing myself to draw a single subject will also 1. push me to think of something more creative to do with that subject, and 2. force me to be thinking about what I’m doing. my painting professor’s greatest lament is that too many art students don’t think.

in pursuit of this goal I am taking suggestions for subjects. themes may also be suggested, but subjects is better. have fun doing step one of thinking for me :D

Nouveau

Classwork. There are some things I like, some things I don’t. It was my intent to color this but I probably won’t have enough time and I think it looks good as lineart. If I have time I might color it in photoshop or the like instead, but I probably won’t have that kind of time until spring break or later.

Art nouveau-inspired girl sitting in a tree. I plucked influences and references from here and there (most notable Mucha) but it’s not meant to resemble any specific image or thing.

Attractive

A word that means different things to different people…

attractive

she’s probably blonde.

Bonny Swan

no, no, I can’t do anything like a normal person. oh well.

Fire Goddess

consider this my Valentine’s Day picture. I don’t really do hearts and flowers…

apologies for the Alphonse Mucha meets Audrey Kawasaki. I’m still not feeling 100%.

Get Well Soon

get well soon

I kind of hate being sick. Here’s to hoping I recover quickly this time!

I’m actually not feeling super icky (yet) – just tightness in my chest. I’m not sure which I prefer.

new sp wip2

I managed to take this one with a proper camera… pretty much the only difference between this and the previous is that I spent about two hours working the hand in this one x_x
it’s due monday, so I’ll be working on it all weekend… urghle.

classwork (original is 18″x24″). I might re-do it, I like the concept but parts of it are bugging me. black ink and white china marker.

Lady, you got a loooooooooot of cleanin’ to do.
