the hand is driving me nuts and I’m not sure if I’m going to put color in this or not, but I’d say it’s an improvement. I don’t know why it looks so blue in this photo. oh well. it’s not like it’s bad or anything. :[
I managed to cut my hand in class today. it’s nothing serious, but damn, with all the safety regulations we have to deal with, you’d think they could make our little painting cubbies less deadly. >_>
oral contraceptive/birth control…
this is sort of a concept sketch for my next painting, which is to be in mixed media. I was thinking I’d attach an actual ortho dialpak along with the drug warnings (do not take if, possible side effects include, stop taking immediately if, etc).
don’t get me wrong, I love my birth control pills… more or less… it’s just that the side effects are AGKFGHLRHJ. today is the first day since I started a new prescription that I don’t feel too tired to move. the nausea hasn’t quite gone away yet, though.
the final painting will definitely have a different composition, colors, etc. I just wanted to get the idea of the floating glowing magical dialpak out on “paper”. I might do something like cut up the drug information and form it into wings or clothing or something like that. it should be fun!

side note, I’ve become aware (thanks Mumu) that there’s problems with posting comments in Internet Explorer. I’ve figured out that the problem is with my layout, but I haven’t figured out what the specific problem is (I’ve entirely switched out the code for the comment section and it’s no good). I’m going to try to fix it if I can.

we had a model come in last week and we painted her. there was another model on monday but I didn’t go to class that day. :V
the proportions look really wrong to me looking at the photo, but I guess it’s… uh… forshortening and perspective and shit. I don’t know. maybe the angle of the photo. I don’t know yet what I’m going to do with the background.
FYI, I’m going to be away from my computer all weekend (starting tonight until sunday evening) so I probably won’t update again until monday. thx.
I was going to upload my current in-progress painting, but the site I use to retrieve my phone photos is being uncooperative, so have this instead:
the lion is saying “this is the only thing that will get you a twinkie” and the tiger is saying “I am the axe murderer”. Both of these are direct quotes from my philosophy professor. it is an amazing class. that is why I draw through it. at some point he was describing Aristotle’s writings to us, and how they’re hard to read because it’s really kind of like all of his students took their notes and stapled them together, and then he invited us to imagine if we as his philosophy class put together a book in the same fashion, by stapling our notes together, and I flipped through my last few pages of [drawings] and thought “…tee hee”. My pages would be awesome.
but yes, a lion and a tiger because he’s always on about lions, tigers and bears. and photons and primazons (I think?) and broccoli and twinkies. I’m beginning to think that the broccoli/twinkie paradigm is an analogy for good and evil.

done in the same/a similar style as my drawing of Brent, Carlton is one of the guitarists for THE DREAMING (…yeeeeeee) but he’s also been in some other bands, like Deadsy. In fact, I have a guitar pick of his with DEADSY printed on one side and Megalodon jaws on the other.
one thing that I find very striking about Carlton every time I see him in person is that his nose is very pointy. my only regret is that I didn’t convey this in this particular drawing.
anyway, the idea is I might do the rest of the band as well… when it strikes me to. I feel kind of lame for not having it done sooner, because I don’t know when the next time I’ll see them in person is, and I would like to give them copies. D:
