My title is actually descriptive? Oh lordy.

Jack’s shapes are really fun to draw and put together, but usually I put him in pretty boring, static poses… trying to work on that. This was originally going to be more dynamic but his proportions are just so funky I have to get used to seeing them. They’re not familiar to the human mind, which wants the silhouette to be recognizable… Jack doesn’t really work that way. no.

oh, hey there, blog.
I got a full-time job back in May. That’s my excuse. :[ I’m finally getting adjusted to my schedule and finding time to work on art again. I will try to update more frequently forthwith.

I don’t remember what prompted this since I passed out not long after finishing it (woohoo) but there’s a photograph under there.

This soft, broken thing you’ve left me with

the remnants of what was once a human heart

It was about 4:15am. I was finally laying down to sleep, and suddenly I got this idea for a series of alcoholic beverage labels featuring Pokemon. Not wanting to lose the idea, I begrudgingly got back out of bed so I could sketch something quickly and come back to it in the afternoon.
It’s now six hours later and I still have not slept. BLUGH.

I hate typography. I loathe it. I probably spent more time messing around with the type than I did actually drawing/working on the images. On the plus side, Illustrator is now my bitch. :D
Interestingly enough, I tried google searching for Pokemon-themed beer labels (etc) before I dove into this and was surprised it doesn’t seem to have been done before. Since when am I original? Ack.
The only other solid idea I have along these lines is Slowpoke Sake, done in a frosted-glass kind of effect with the traditional Japanese calligraphy on it. It’s not outside my skillset but it’ll probably take twice as long to do. and I think naps are in order at the moment. D:

Whoa man, I’ve kind of been failing at this regular blog update thing! I’d like to blame my recent purchase of a guitar but honestly I’m just lazy busy with housework, continuing to have a social life post-graduation, and other things like that.
This is Sara with Princess Bubblegum!

Princess Bubblegum thinks Sara’s wings are cute, but Sara never really pays much attention to them. I think they would have a lot of fun playing with eachothers’ hair, and other such silly girly things I didn’t do a whole lot of growing up. =3=
The princess is a character on the new-ish Cartoon Network show Adventure Time with Finn & Jake which is one of the best children’s cartoons of the past decade. I’d argue that’s not really a difficult achievement, but trust me, it’s actually good! It is a tale of ADVENTURE, friendship, awkward crushes, and totally awesome nerdy princessessess.
I also get a kind of perverse pleasure from hearing Brian Posehn in a kid’s cartoon, but, uh. mostly because I’ve seen the Sarah Silverman Program. hah.
But really, if you like cartoons but haven’t recently turned on Cartoon Network any time before [adult swim]* comes on, try Adventure Time. :V
* I am so excited for season 3 of the Boondocks :D I don’t know when I turned back into a TV-watcher… no school and no job makes Julie something something

Haven’t posted in a while. Whoops. Life’s been throwing other stuff at me (like Wednesday being Bad Movie Night with awesome friends) so I haven’t been drawing terribly much either. I’ve been itching to do some projects outside my usual scope, and getting the materials for those has been a little troublesome. That said…
Remember that guitar from My Indie Cred? I fixed the broken neck but one of the strings snapped, so I said screw it, I’m going to paint on it! This isn’t recommended for wood-body guitars in working condition, but this one’s never gonna sing another tune again.

…this is not paint on a guitar. I drew this sketch today and started coloring it (so I could plan before actually putting paint to wood), but when I came back to it a few hours later… eh. I’m not feeling it. Back to the drawing board, as they say. Figured I’d just throw this up here so y’all could know I’m still alive. :P

You are a child of the universe,
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful.
Strive to be happy.
